Elon Musk Gives Millions To Republican Super PACs Ahead Of Midterms

Despite billionaire Elon Musk no longer being in the White House alongside President Donald Trump, he continues to actively support Republicans.

On June 27, Musk contributed $5 million to two prominent super PACs that back Republicans in both the House and Senate. As per recent campaign finance disclosures released on Thursday, Musk emerged as the largest individual donor to these organizations during the first half of 2025.

On the same day, he allocated $5 million to Trump’s super PAC, MAGA Inc.

Meanwhile, Musk invested $45.3 million in his own super PAC in the first half of this year, according to additional recent campaign finance disclosures. Along with providing $27.4 million in in-kind donations, the tech mogul contributed nearly $17.9 million to the group. Musk also financed million-dollar incentives for voters who signed petitions.

During the first half of the year, America PAC expended $47.3 million, which included $15.5 million in the first week of April, when the organization was heavily engaged in the Florida special House elections and the Wisconsin state Supreme Court elections on April 1.

In addition to spending several million dollars on digital advertisements, mailers, and phone calls, the organization reported an expenditure of $6 million on field operations and canvassing.

The complete scope of Musk’s contributions in the first half of 2025 remains uncertain, as numerous other political organizations are not required to disclose their donors, and super PACs will continue to file fundraising reports with the Federal Election Commission on Thursday before the midnight deadline.

In the 2024 election cycle, Musk donated over a quarter of a billion dollars, primarily to support Trump’s campaign.

The America PAC report released on Thursday contains details regarding expenditures and fundraising from January 1 to June 30. It remains unclear whether Musk’s commitment in July to establish a new political party—which took place after the reporting period covered by the new report—was related to his super PAC.

This follows a CNN poll indicating that a majority of Americans desire a third political party—though not one under the leadership of Elon Musk.

The survey reveals that 63% of U.S. adults would endorse a new party presenting candidates in presidential and congressional elections to contest both the Democrats and Republicans.

Musk, recognized as the world’s wealthiest individual, declared on X this month his intention to establish a new political party named the “America party.”

However, the CNN survey suggests that most Americans are not in favor of Musk leading it. “Only 25% of respondents expressed support for a party led by Musk, while 74% indicated they would not,” as reported by MassLive, referencing the findings.

These results prompted CNN’s data analyst, Harry Enten, to comment on X: “Jeez Louise, Musk’s third party appears nearly dead on arrival.”

Additionally, the CNN poll indicated a decline in Elon Musk’s favorability, with merely 23% of respondents viewing him positively and 60% holding an unfavorable opinion.

Conducted between July 10 and July 13 with a sample size of 1,057 adults, the poll has a margin of error of ±3.5%, as noted by MassLive.

Information regarding the America Party’s platform remains vague, and it is uncertain if the group will gather sufficient signatures to qualify for ballot access.

Trump has mocked Musk’s third-party initiative, referring to his former Department of Government Efficiency adviser as a “train wreck.”

“He even aspires to initiate a third political party, despite their historical lack of success in the United States,” Trump stated on Truth Social this month. “The system appears not to be designed for them.”
